(Preview by Russell)
Three
radio programmes to tune into this week. Jazz
on 3 (Monday, 11:00pm) presents highlights from this summer’s Vision
Festival in New York featuring Roscoe Mitchell (Art Ensemble of Chicago). On
Wednesday BBC Radio 4 Extra presents a programme first broadcast in 2005 in
which Christopher Bigsby talks to Arthur Miller. Playwright Miller recorded
spirituals and blues sung by North Carolina’s poor in 1941. In Arthur Miller: the Accidental Music
Collector expect to hear something special. The half hour documentary will
be aired three times at 6:30am, 1:30pm and again at 8:30pm. Finally, Friday Night is Music Night (Radio 2,
8:00pm) celebrates the talents of Nelson Riddle. The BBC Big Band and BBC
Concert Orchestra will be joined by Clare Teal and, from America, Curtis
Stigers.
(Ed. Note): And, of course, Gary Copley on Radio York
and Leeds:6pm – 9pm every Sunday.

PS: The Chris Ingham Quartet track on Hoagy's My Resistance is Low has Russ Morgan on drums! Russ of course is now a stalwart of the north-east jazz scene.
