Just heard that Malcolm Gray died on Monday March 24. North East trumpet player and bandleader for many years he was also a friend who will be sadly missed.

Such sad news, was a regular with MU for many years.
Very sad news indeed, I did learn to read music sitting next to Malcolm at a rehearsal big band at the Gosforth Hotel, Gosforth High Street many years ago as a very young 17, 18 year old, all the Jimmy Lally stuff, with those nasty key changes at the end, Malcolm used to guide me through them, also played in the Newcastle big band with him, I also thought he was the owner of every make of Mouthpiece going, such a warm nice guy, and such a shock to get this news. R.I.P.
I played drums in the Malcom Gray band many years ago ,,,,I’m even on his foto at Parishes Newcastle,,,plus many other gigs ,,he was a great front man in the band,, RIP Ian
