Our man in Hong Kong has sent me this historical clipping from the Evening Chronicle circa late 1950's. He wonders if anyone can pinpoint the exact date.
The article mentions Big Bill Broonzy appearing at the City Hall. Well Big Bill died in 1958 so that gives us a clue.
Another one is the report of Ronnie McLean leaving the Panama Jazzmen to join the Crane River Jazzmen.
Any ideas?Lance.

We know that McLean was still with the Panama when they were one of the support bands to Louis Armstrong at Newcastle City Hall which was in 1956.
Ten years later I was working with him (McLean) and he was still talking about it!
So this narrows the date of the clipping down to somewhere between 1956 and August 1958 when Broonzy died.
Big Bill was at the City Hall 1957 with Brother John Sellers and the Mick Mulligan Band. Sorry but no other dates on the programme.
Somebody recently sold a signed programme on e bay for £239 for the concert at Birmingham March 1st 1957. I think I will try forging a few signatures on my collection, what will I get apart from 18 months?
Looks like the clipping is from late February/early March 1957.
