RIP Jim Godbolt

I've been so involved with the death of Keith Crombie that I sadly missed the passing of jazz author Jim Godbolt who, bizarrely, seems to have shared a number of Crombie's traits - cantankerous and kind being a couple of them.
Best known for his books; Jazz in Britain 1919-1950, Ditto 1950-1970, All This and 10% and the follow up All This and Many a Dog  he also edited the Ronnie Scott Club house magazine JARS (Jazz At Ronnie Scott's).
Godbolt's writing was informative and often very funny and he will be missed, not just in London, but by any admirer of Jazz prose.
Jim died aged 90 on January 9.
