Bebop Spoken There

Dave Puddy: "Eventually we paid our entrance money [to Eel Pie Island] and fought our way to one of the many bars where we could buy our Newcastle Brown and retire to the back of the heaving dancefloor. There must have been lights somewhere, but my memory remains of being in some dark cavernous wonderland." - (Just Jazz July 2020)

Dave Rempis:Ten years from now, I can see musicians streaming concerts in real time and charging a minimal amount for people to watch.” - (DownBeat September 2013)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

R.I.P. Patty Andrews

An era truly came to an end yesterday (January 30) with the death of Patty Andrews, the last surviving Andrews sister. Inheriting the legacy of The Boswell Sisters, Maxine, Laverne and Patty (centre) set the mould for girl harmony groups that is echoed even today by the Puppini Sisters and others. They were as much a part of WWII as Glenn Miller, Betty Grable and Harry James.
Patty Andrews was 94.
She held a lot of memories for me.
Rest in Peace.
Obituary.

As a kid, I loved listening to my parents two Andrews Sisters LPs. One had their 'greatest hits' - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Rum and Coca Cola, Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar, By Mir Bist Du Schoen; and the other was full of tracks with Bing - Don't Fence Me In, Accentuate the Positive. Pop music from a different era, but I'm sure it instilled a love of swing and good harmony in me. I'll be digging som Andrew Sisters records out tonight.
