Bebop Spoken There

Avishai Cohen (trumpet): "This is my main thing right now: Live in the here and now, take things one day at a time. I'm stopping everything I can, and stripping everything to the bone. I'm spending a lot of time listening to music, playing, going for walks, enjoying my kids." - (DownBeat June 2020).

Dave Rempis:Ten years from now, I can see musicians streaming concerts in real time and charging a minimal amount for people to watch.” - (DownBeat September 2013)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

Today

As we all know there are no live gigs taking place in the immediate future. However, any links to jazz streaming that are deemed suitable - i.e. with a professional approach - will be considered for posting.

RIP Abram Wilson!

Tony Kofi has just posted the following on Facebook - "I just heard some really sad news that trumpet player and UK resident Abraham Wilson just passed. We didn't know each other very well on the music scene but it's always a shock to lose someone so talented and so young. R.I.P. dear brother and may you continue to inspire wherever you go."
Unbelievable! I first heard Abram at the Spice of Life playing alongside Denys Baptiste, Alexander Stewart and the Alex Webb Trio. I had a few words with him afterwards and he seemed a very friendly person. Sadly missed - already the Facebook tributes are pouring in.

Yes very sad indeed Lance. I also saw Abram for the first time at the Spice of Life last August performing his music about Philippa Schuyler. I've followed him since, this is a terrible bolt from the blue.

I am totally stunned by this news. I had the pleasure of working with Abram on four occassions over the past ten years the final time being three weeks ago at Bishop Auckland Town Hall with the Durham County Youth Big Band. Abram had so much energy and time for not just the young people but also the tutors. His playing sparkled on that evening and he educated the performers and audience on the traditions of jazz with such passion. A truly inspirational performer and educator.
