Crazy Coqs is something of a hidden gem. Located deep underground in London's West End, adjacent to Piccadilly's labyrinthine underground station, the subterranean Art Deco venue plays host to many jazz gigs. This evening Flight Call would play to a full house. Three ace vocalists - Georgia Cécile, Lucy-Anne Daniels and Pete Horsfall - accompanied by first call pianist Alex Bryson, held all present spellbound.

From Take Love Easy to In My Solitude, Jimmy McHugh-Harold Adamson's I Just Found Out About Love and more, the vocals were nothing short of sublime. Alex Bryson, the ideal accompanist, took his turn in the spotlight with a fine reading of Stardust. Lucy-Anne Daniels set a high bar singing I Didn't Know What Time it Was. During the evening Georgia Cécile and Pete Horsfall (the latter picking up his trumpet from time to time) were more than a match for Ms Daniels.

Flight Call should be heard gigging at jazz venues across the UK. If you see the name in the listings, don't hesitate. They're more than good, they're exceptionally good. Russell
