This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Teresa Watson Band @ Morpeth Comrades Club - June 11

This was Teresa's third gig since the sad passing of her legendary (Ashington born) guitarist Johnny Whitehill. It's great that Teresa's band is back on the go with Johnny's replacement fitting in seamlessly well. They played two great sets and have many more concerts planned all over the north east.

The Comrades Club in Morpeth is now a weekly Sunday venue putting on local bands.  Previously, there were monthly Sunday night gigs at the Sour Grapes Bar-Cafe. When the Grapes closed down, Comrades Club committee man Ralph Davison effected the change over.

There was a good turnout at the Comrades on Sunday although this may have been because it was also the Morpeth Fair Day which always brings in an influx of visitors. Teresa's band will be returning to the Comrades Club soon. John T
