Okay so we, England, narrowly lost the first test. So what? there's another four to go and it could have gone either way.
However, what always tickles my fancy is Joe Root's team number - 66 - and how the commentators never seem to pick up on it even though he's worn it for many years.
I'm sure if Shane Warne had still been with us, it may have clicked with him.
If, after a big hit by Root, they had had someone in the commentary box such as Frank Parr who not only played trombone with Mick Mulligan's Magnolia Jazz Band but also kept wicket for Lancashire you may have heard him exclaim something to the effect of - that one's heading for San Bernadino! Or, after a mishit, he ain't even gonna get to Joplin, Missouri with that one! A risky quick single could be: he's gonna try and gallop to Gallop, New Mexico.
Root 66 is a great pun - work on it you 'pundits', maybe even sing a chorus when rain stops play!
Now if Joe Root had been playing for the Yankees or the Dodgers ... but, that's a whole different ballgame! Lance
