This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Album review: 3'Ain - Sea of Stories

After spending most of my adult life listening to jazz of all persuasions, there comes a time when you say that enough is enough. You've heard them all from Armstrong, Basie, Coltrane, Davis and Ellington through to Xenopoulos, Young and Zito (Jimmy Zito played a beautiful solo on Les Brown's I've Got my Love to Keep me Warm) what more is there to come?

Should you change horses in midstream? Maybe immerse yourself in Debussy, or Elvis, or take up learning a language such as English where at least you have a head start?

Then suddenly, as if out of an orange colored sky (a nuclear disaster) an album comes along and blows your mind - suddenly, you're back in the game!
