Art Blakey (to Terence Blanchard): ''You ain't Miles find your own shit to do!'' (DownBeat May, 2026)

The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) North. (M & SSBB on F/book 23/12/24)

Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

Sunday Night Jazz @ The Globe - Tonight.

(Press release)

We are delighted to welcome back to The Globe, Bradley Johnston (“A brilliant young guitarist” – The Crack Magazine) and Lindsay Hannon (“A voice soulful, brooding & unselfconscious in its longing” – Jazz Journal) aka Hand To Mouth.

Here’s what award-winning jazz blog Bebop Spoken Here wrote about their last livestream gig:

“No doubt about it, Hand to Mouth are a class act, in fact they don’t come much classier. Bradley can turn his hand to just about anything from Django to Pat Metheny or, as was the case last night, Joe Pass. Likewise, Lindsay’s mouth can encompass the world between old-time Mississippi blues singers to Joni Mitchell and beyond or, as was the case last night, Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McRae. … Marks out of ten? – Eleven!”

 AT THE GLOBE

Unreserved seating.  Names of ticket holders will be on the door.  We do not send out physical tickets.

TO VIEW THE LIVESTREAM

Buy a livestream ticket and you will get a link that allows you to watch the gig live and at any time during the following two weeks. When you complete your purchase, the button to download the link file should appear on your screen. You will be sent an email confirming your order and this will also contain a link to download the file. Check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see the email.

CREATING A GLOBE ACCOUNT

When you buy tickets you will be invited to create an online account. You don’t have to do this but, if you do, you will find it quicker and simpler to buy tickets in future.
