The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

COVID-19

In the current climate we are doing our best to keep everyone up to date. All gigs, as we all know, are off.

However, good old YouTube has plenty to offer both old and new to help us survive whilst housebound. Plus now is a good time to stock up on your CDs.

Also, keep an eye out for live streaming sessions.

Alternatively, you could do as they do in Italy and sing from your balcony.

Today

As we all know there are no live gigs taking place in the immediate future. However, any links to jazz streaming that are deemed suitable - i.e. with a professional approach - will be considered for posting.

Preview: Clare Teal @ Gala Theatre, Durham - Feb. 14

(Preview by Lance/Photo  from Manilla PR)

Few things in life are certain and never more so than in jazz. However, one thing that is certain is that you will come away from a Clare Teal concert feeling happy. Whether she is fronting a big band, a symphony orchestra or a trio you can look forward to an evening where satisfaction is guaranteed whilst still retaining that essential jazz element - the sound of surprise.

Her distinctive vocal style makes her not just a great British jazz singer but one of world class as the audience at the Gala Theatre, Durham, will find out (as if they didn't already know!) on Friday, February 14 (7:30pm).

Yes, this Friday - St. Valentine's Day - Clare will bring her trio to the Gala for what, these days, is practically an annual visit.

That Ms. Teal is in good voice was born out by our York correspondent Liz who waxed eloquently about Clare's gig in that historic city last July. So, from one historic city to another, this looks to be an unforgettable St. Valentine's Day.

Let's not forget that her trio is in itself something special with Jason Rebello on piano, Simon Little on bass and Ben Reynolds on drums.

The programme promises to "Celebrate 100 years of pop music featuring some of the greatest songs ever written from the great American and British songbooks and contemporary writers creating the standards of today."

Sounds good to me!
