Bebop Spoken There

Gil Goldstein: "The first three days I was in Florida, I heard Jaco Pastorius play at a club in Fort Lauderdale, and then I heard Pat [Metheny] play in a class on jazz composition. My whole experience of the world changed in those three days." - (DownBeat, March 2020).

Valentine's Day in Berwick with the Tenement Jazz Band

(Preview by Russell)
The Maltings Theatre and Cinema in Berwick is the place to be on Valentine's Day. A band formed just over two years ago will be making a welcome return visit to the Eastern Lane venue with a new album on the horizon. The Tenement Jazz Band started gigging at the turn of the year - that was 2018 - and now, with a critically acclaimed EP and countless festival and club appearances behind them, the boys from Edinburgh wil be looking to play to a capacity audience in the Henry Travers Studio space.

New Orleans Wiggle is a remarkably good debut recording with one reservation - as an EP it's too short! Fans of the band will be counting down the days to the July release of a full-length album. Meanwhile in Berwick on Friday 14 February (that's Valentine's Day) the five piece Tenement Jazz Band will invite the audience to pull up a chair to listen to some New Orleans inspired numbers - some instantly recognisable, some perhaps a little less familiar, all performed with panache. To secure your Valentine's Day treat contact the Maltings Theatre & Cinema on 01289 330999. Tickets £14 (£11 concs.).
