A Three Day Vintage Spectacular at Historic Herne Hill

The P&P World Cycling Revival, the greatest celebration of the bicycle the world has ever seen, will be a high-end heritage sporting, music and lifestyle festival celebrating 200 years of the bicycle. 

The event is set in the halcyon days of the Herne Hill Velodrome, when it hosted the London 1948 Olympics, and our patrons will be invited to wear vintage themed clothing throughout the whole festival.

Enjoy a dazzling display of vintage jazz, swing and garden party style music from some of the UK’s most exclusive vintage artists. Key artists  performing include:
·  Alex Mendham and his Orchestra perform the sophisticated and stylish music of the 1920’s and 30s with the modern energy and passion of their youthful years. They epitomise Hollywood’s golden age
·  Ray Gelato & the Giants - Ray has been taking his special brand of swing, jazz and R&B music all over the world since 1988. This multi-talented singer, saxman, songwriter and band leader has appeared at festivals, clubs and concert stages from Brazil to New York City
·  Palace Avenue Swing - Palace Avenue Swing is a large ensemble of experienced professional musicians and friends who specialise in performing and recreating the music and style of the golden era of jazz, blues and swing in its many forms 1920-50s
·  Electric Swing Circus - The Electric Swing Circus is a 6-piece fusion of saucy 20’s swing and stomping electro beats. With an explosive sound that reverberates back through time, them with their own unique style of swing the ESC always brings the party

Exhibitions include: 
·  History of the Bicycle with The National Cycle Museum is pleased to be partnering with the World Cycling Revival Festival to create an exhibition to celebrate 200 years of the bicycle.The exhibition at the World Cycling Revival Festival provides the museum with the opportunity to tell the story of the bicycle and enable many thousands of visitors to see the actual machines that have been used by cyclists for the past 200 years. As the home of cycling at the 1948 Olympics, the Herne Hill Velodrome has its own place in cycling history and we are proud to be working with the Cycling Revival to bring this classic venue to life. A couple of the bikes we will be featuring at the Cycling Revival are the 1819 Hobby Horse and the 1891 Swift Safety Bicycle, we invite you to read on for a brief history of these pivotal machines.

Photo Exhibit The World Cycling Revival Festival are delighted to announce that we will be teaming up with some of the world’s finest photography houses to bring our patrons a stunning gallery of classic photography that tells the story of the bicycle and its role in society. To celebrate 200 years of the bicycle, we can think of no better way than to display some of the most captivating photographs from cycling’s golden age.
