Master of the Glen Returns to the Chilli

Dave Weisser’s long running weekly workshop invites the occasional guest to play a set. Wednesday 18 November sees the return of the Alan Glen Trio. Mr Glen goes way back with trumpeter Dave Weisser. Master pianist Glen doesn’t play too many gigs these days so this is a rare chance to hear him in action.

Modern jazz standards and the GAS book is Glen’s thing and he has with him two of the best in the business; the two Pauls – P Grainger, double bass, and drummer P Wight. 

The one hour set will dispense with introductions, you’ll get full value for money. Part of the fun is to guess the tune from Glen’s sometimes heavily disguised opening verse. It’s just as well the two Pauls are in on it! The Alan Glen Trio will play the middle set of three. A Dave Weisser workshop invariably offers a surprise or two, so get along by eight to catch all of the action.

The Chillingham’s beers are always tip top (ask at the bar for a card and be sure to get it stamped each time you buy a pint and when you’ve filled-up the card you’re next pint is a freebie!). Chillingham Road Metro is nearby, similarly the 62/63 bus stops close by and if you must, there’s a large pub car park. £1.00 admission (be sure to enter the raffle - £1.00 a ticket), sitters-in welcome, but please, sit and listen to the Alan Glen Trio.
