Bebop Spoken There

Val Wilmer: "The festival [New York Musicians Festival], an impressive exercise in African-American self-reliance, had come about after the promoter George Wein had moved his annual Newport Jazz Festival to New York the previous year [1972], and paid scant attention to the avant garde." - (Wire June 2020)

Dave Rempis:Ten years from now, I can see musicians streaming concerts in real time and charging a minimal amount for people to watch.” - (DownBeat September 2013)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

Today

As we all know there are no live gigs taking place in the immediate future. However, any links to jazz streaming that are deemed suitable - i.e. with a professional approach - will be considered for posting.

Good Gort! GORT's Gone!

Just been listening to a track by GORT. It's rather lovely yet, I'm told, the band has broken up after only one gig. Hey fella's what gives? Alan Laws, John Pope and Jeff Armstrong, you gel wonderfully on this track - has someone got sweaty feet? Read Hazel Hanley's review.

Thanks for your kind words lance.
I think you are talking about the 35 minute improvised jam tune, I must admit it kind of worked, playing something totally improvised and listenable was the goal, and I think we managed at times. We are all kind of busy, and Gort is inactive for a bit, but in some configuration or other Gort will play again!
It would be a waste of a good name otherwise,
there aren't enough bands named after an interplanetary robot policeman !
