No Bourbon, No Scotch, No Beer!

The Artistes Guarantee to remain sober throughout - so says the blurb to the right of the band's name on a flyer for a June 1961 concert at the Guild Hall, Southampton. The Temperance Seven were surely anything but given that they were on the road a lot at the height of their popularity. What's more, as the flyer indicates, not only did the band play two gigs on the day - 2.30 and 8.00 - it just happened to be a Sunday. To misquote John Lee Hooker - No Bourbon, No Scotch, No Beer!
