This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: The Dean Stockdale Trio @ Hexham Jazz Club (March 17)

Next Tuesday (17 March) Hexham Jazz Club presents the Dean Stockdale Trio in concert. The Fox Inn's regulars are in for a treat as pianist Stockdale's swinging Oscar Peterson-inspired set will feature two of the best in the business - bassist extraordinaire Andy Champion and the exceptionally talented young drummer Abbie Finn. Expect GASbook gems, modern jazz standards and, with a bit of luck, one or two of Stockdale's own compositions*. 


Hexham Jazz Club's gigs are made possible thanks to generous on-the-night donations by its many supporters. Do get along to enjoy an evening of top class jazz. Your attendance will help secure the future of jazz in the Northumberland market town. 8:30 start, two sets, 10:30 finish.

* Dean Stockdale's album Origin is well worth acquiring. It could be that Dean has a handful of copies left (the trio recording features Gavin Barras and Adam Dawson) and he'll have them with him on the night. You could buy two copies - one for yourself and one to give to a loved one at Christmas!
