Jazz North East present Women Make Music 2020

(Press release)

Very pleased to announce this years 'Women Make Music' concert programme with Jazz North East. There are some familiar faces but also many new musicians who have not appeared previously so it's a great pleasure to welcome them.

This year’s series collaborates with three of the region’s major festivals. Next week VULA VIEL are at GATESHEAD JAZZ FESTIVAL, NEWCASTLE FESTIVAL OF JAZZ AND IMPROVISED MUSIC will stage a two week Graphic Scores visual art exhibition from JO GANTER and RAYMOND MACDONALD which will also be combined with a live performance of some of the pieces, and LAUREN KINSELLA 'SAOIRSE' QUARTET will perform at TYNESIDE IRISH FESTIVAL later in the year.

We're especially delighted to be a part of staging the CD Album Launch for ZOE GILBY's 'AURORA' QUINTET and there's a really diverse programme of more outstanding musicians including a new solo project from FAITH BRACKENBURY who will perform alongside ARCHIPELAGO, the poetic leanings of RAFE'S DILEMMA and ALEMBIC, the dulcet vocal tones of NISHLA SMITH, and the contemporary sounds of SHIRLEY SMART TRIO, WARMER THAN BLOOD + RUTH GOLLER, CHARLOTTE KEEFFE QUARTET and JOSEPHINE DAVIES 'SATORI' TRIO.

We hope to see you at some of these tremendously exciting events and please do watch out for a few further announcements coming throughout the year…
Wes Stephenson.
