This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazzlines Free Gigs: Xhosa Cole Quintet Watch Party

Cormac Loane kindly brought this upcoming event to my attention. An event that's saved me the train fare to Birmingham! It's a Watch Party - now that's a new one on me!*

This particular hoolie was scheduled to take place at Birmingham's Town Hall Symphony Hall on April 10 but circumstances have put the mockers on that so instead you can watch it live and for free!

The names will be more than familiar to BSH readers, particularly those who heard the band (with a slightly different line-up at the Ushaw Jazz Festival and The Bridge, Newcastle, last year). Five of the most outstanding young jazz musicians, not just in Birmingham, but throughout the UK and, once travel becomes more viable, surely far beyond.

And, you will have a front row seat - bring it on!
