This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Valentine's Day in Berwick with the Tenement Jazz Band

The Maltings Theatre and Cinema in Berwick is the place to be on Valentine's Day. A band formed just over two years ago will be making a welcome return visit to the Eastern Lane venue with a new album on the horizon. The Tenement Jazz Band started gigging at the turn of the year - that was 2018 - and now, with a critically acclaimed EP and countless festival and club appearances behind them, the boys from Edinburgh wil be looking to play to a capacity audience in the Henry Travers Studio space. 


New Orleans Wiggle is a remarkably good debut recording with one reservation - as an EP it's too short! Fans of the band will be counting down the days to the July release of a full-length album. Meanwhile in Berwick on Friday 14 February (that's Valentine's Day) the five piece Tenement Jazz Band will invite the audience to pull up a chair to listen to some New Orleans inspired numbers - some instantly recognisable, some perhaps a little less familiar, all performed with panache.
