This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Last Musicians Unlimited Set in The Park Inn for a while

The Park Inn in Hartlepool, where Musicians Unlimited hold their open rehearsal every Sunday 1:00 - 3:00pm, is changing hands and will be closed for refurbishment for 4-6 weeks. At this point in time, they are not sure whether the new management will accommodate the band going forward or whether they will need to find an alternative venue. Whatever happens, the Band will be taking a forced break for at least 4-6 weeks.

The last session will be this coming Sunday (Feb. 9). The intention is to make it a bit of a party as a send-off for landlord, Rick, who has supported the band for many years now. There is an invitation out to all musicians who have played with the band in the past – if they turn up, Mick [Donnelly] will try to make sure they get to play for at least a couple of numbers.

  

Musicians Unlimited will be performing at the Great North Big Band Jazz Festival in Chester-Le-Street – opening the festival on Friday Feb. 28.
