This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Tonight @ Hoochie - Diane Shaw


Another coup for Warren - a return visit by super soul singer Shaw. Diane has been touring for 20 years picking up many accolades and chart-topping soul albums along the way.

Tonight, the Manchester-based singer will bring a ten-piece backing group so this is going to be special. Not a jazz gig by any means but, rest assured, there will be some good blowers in there goosing her along to even greater heights and if you've got your dancing shoes on so much the better although there probably won't be room to do much more than shaking your booty.
Doors are at 7pm. Show commences 9:30pm. Tickets (£15).
