Bebop Spoken There

Lou Donaldson: "(On Art Blakey) Everything changed. Especially when the women came in, sat down in the front row, and raised their skirts above their knees. Then the drums got louder, the tempos got faster, and every tune was a drum solo" - (JazzTimes, November 2019.)

RIP Harry Pitch

Harmonica virtuoso Harry Pitch who died on July 15 provided the soundtrack to many films and TV programmes including Last of the Summer Wine. However, his true love was jazz, starting out as a trumpet player in the 1950's leading a London based big band and going on to perform with the likes of Bill Le Sage and Jack Emblow.
Harry Pitch (perfect name for a musician!) was 90.
May he rest in peace,
Lance.
PS: Thanks to Liz, our Lady in York, for bringing this to my attention and also John Cooper.
