This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Newcastle's Loss London's Gain

Peter Gilligan has said farewell to Newcastle on Facebook as he heads down south. A great loss to the north east jazz scene we wish him the very best of luck but will miss his powerful piano playing and his sense of humour..

Sorry to hear this. I only met Pete a few times at gigs but he brought character and style to the Newcastle jazz scene on top of his great playing and organising abilities.
