Bebop Spoken There

George Shearing: "Speaking about Johann Sebastian Bach I think he'd be a real jazzer if he were alive today. I mean any man who has two wives, twenty kids, gets kicked out of the church for being too harmonically radical and drinks beer can't be all wrong can he?" - (Crescendo March 1984.)

How many can you recognise?

Derrick Cogger sent this montage of gig-scarred north-east jazzmen of yore and wonders how many you can recognise? Derrick, of course, plays trumpet on several of the pics.

Well as no one seems to have identified anyone - my eyesight isn't that good either! I'm going to throw in Trevor Johnson, Bill Smith, Stan Martin, Jimmy Ruddick (reeds)
Marshall Walker (drums), Ian Heslop (bass) Bill Harper (pnp) and, no doubt a few others
