The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jeff Clyne R.I.P.

I received the sad news this morning via Paul Bream, LondonJazz and other sources that Jeff Clyne died suddenly on Monday November 16.
Regarded by many as the British Basso Supremo it is impossible to list all of his achievements but for me it is seeing and hearing him as part of Nucleus and the Rendell/Carr Quintet.

Very sad to hear this. He was a lovely person - I met him years back at a jazz weekend - he was with a great jazz guitarist Phil Lee. Jeff is on the original Tracey album 'Under Milkwood'. The remake had Dave Green on bass. Both are wonderful UK jazz albums. That's another topic for people's opinions - best ever UK jazz album. The original 'Milkwood' would get my vote.
