This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Burt Bacharach Evening (Saturday, BBC 2)


Burt Bacharach died in February at the age of 94. This evening on BBC 2 there is Bacharach upon Bacharach. At 7:45pm it's Burt Bacharach: a Tribute from Ronnie Scott's. Ronnie's artistic director James Pearson arranged the set list, so that's a guarantee of quality. At nine o'clock it's Burt Bacharach at the BBC. Expect archive material featuring Aretha, Dusty, Dionne and others. At half past ten it's Burt Bacharach at the Electric Proms featuring Bacharach and guests with the BBC Concert Orchestra in a programme recorded at the Roundhouse in 2008. Bacharach at Glastonbury (2015) begins at 10:30pm, and to round off the evening, at half past midnight, from 2015, it's Burt Bacharach: a Life in Song.  Russell
