A recent convention of trade-persons, professionals and other artisans revealed that several of them were also jazz musicians. They decided that they would form a big band resulting in the following line-up:
Henry Busse (conductor); Art Farmer, Kenny Baker, Willie Cook (trumpets); Chris Barber, Johnny Candlestick-Maker* (trombones); Benny Carter, Bobby Plater (altos); Chris Potter, James Carter (tenors); Harry Carney (bari sax); Doctor John (piano); Addison Farmer/Tommy Potter/Reggie Workman (bass); Styx Hooper (drums); Sue Raney (vocals/attorney).
Their first album will feature the songs of Cole Porter.
*Johnny Candlestick-Maker never recorded or played any gigs as he was fully employed delivering his products to various nunneries. His trombone technique came in handy when demonstrating his product to the Mother Superior. Lance
