We're talking about music that predated bebop, even swing yet didn't always slot into the New Orleans/Dixieland mode. I suppose pre-mainstream might roughly cover some if not all of the music on offer on this sold out three day extravaganza.
The thirty musicians, who performed in various themed sets were, like the audience, totally au fait with the idiom and played with authenticity. Selected reviews to follow. Lance
PS: However, good as this was, it was not without a degree of sadness as we recalled that one of the musical brains behind the previous editions was Keith Nichols who, last year, succumbed to Covid.
