The Slim Bees @ The Blind Pig - April 1

Michael Littlefield (guitar, vocals); Scott Taylor (harmonica, vocals)

A Friday night in Newcastle's Prohibition Bar. One half of King Bees - Michael Littlefield and Scott Taylor - sat with a beer, later they would get up to play a few tunes together. The Slim Bees gig when the full band isn't available or when they feel like playing an acoustic blues duo set. The Pink Lane joint slowly, but surely, filled up. As the boys took to the stage, thoughts were turning to Little Walter, Big Walter, Sonny Boy, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James et al.

Little Walter's Juke for starters. From here on in Littlefield and Taylor would share the vocals, picking tunes out of the air, whatever took their fancy. Sit Down wailed ML, My Babe sang ST, If it ain't me baby (ML), Keep it to yourself (ST)Smokestack LightningPallet on the Floor, Jimmy Reed's You Got Me Dizzy, Taylor gettin' his Mojo workin', this was the blues at its best.

One hour forty five minutes and some thirty odd tunes later, Michael Littlefield and Scott Taylor stepped off stage, it was time for another beer. Russell
