Sat 24:
Youth Ensembles present St Cuthbert Suite @ Sage Gateshead. 7:30pm. Composer
Paul Edis conducts Folkestra, Jambone, Quay Voices & Young Sinfonia in a
new arrangement of his St Cuthbert Suite. AVAILABLE ONLY AS A
PRE-RECORDED STREAM ON YOUTUBE AT 7:30PM.
The above item appeared in yesterday's gig listing and no doubt many were kicking themselves for being otherwise engaged and missing out.
Well all is not lost. It can still be viewed on YouTube and is totally unmissable for anyone who appreciates a range of music across the genres.
Needless to say there is no limit to the accolades due to composer, arranger, orchestra and conductor Paul Edis for this magnificent work. Not just for the actual music - that goes without saying - but for the way he has coordinated these young musicians into such a cohesive unit. Admittedly there were one or two more venerable faces amongst the young players but their role was subordinate to the stars of tomorrow. Bravo Dr. Edis and to all concerned. Lance
ps: A minor quibble. It would have been nice for the young players to have been credited on screen.

Excellent!
The World Premiere is reviewed here: https://lance-bebopspokenhere.blogspot.com/2016/03/ushaw-ensemble-st-cuthberts-suite-ushaw.html?m=1 - another BSH scoop!
We agree about the names of the musicians but we would also have appreciated the subtitles for key voices. Deafness is an age thing!
Just caught up with the performance. Excellent! The trumpet/flugelhorn player was canny good!
