This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. NYE: Roaring Twenties' Special


Mitch, proprietor of Newcastle's Prohibition Bar, invites you to step back in time to an era of guys and gals drinking hard liquor, partying the night away listening to some late night jazz. New Year's Eve on Pink Lane is the place to be, Prohibition Bar to be precise. 

APPJAG award winner Zoë Gilby and Mark Williams will provide the jazz, Mitch will provide the burlesque show, Prohibition Bar's resident magician will amaze and confound and, on the stroke of midnight, you can raise a complimentary glass of fizz to 2020. Tickets are on sale now (£20 plus £2 booking fee) from www.prohibitionbar.co.uk. Doors open at 9:00pm to lucky ticket holders and here's the thing...tickets have been on sale for a few days now and most of them have already been snapped up! So, if you want to be there, act now or be a stay-at-home-reveller.
