Frog and Henry made a lasting impression earlier this year when the band performed at
Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club. The New Orleans based five piece outfit
returns to the region tonight (Wednesday Sept. 4) to entertain an expectant crowd of keen
listeners and dancers at the Black Swan on Westgate Road in Newcastle.
An
American, two Canadians, a German and Britain’s Ewan Bleach will play a
selection of familiar and not so familiar numbers from the early years of the
twentieth century. Bleach (reeds) is an energetic showman while his North
American band mates adopt a more laid back approach. Canadian Dave Neigh plays,
perhaps that should be ‘operates’, his custom built tuba machine using a series
of pedals and leg attachments, somehow managing to simultaneously play banjo!
