Hello, folks!
Here's a terrific photograph - you can see the rain sheeting
down. It's all about what musicians sometimes have to endure for their art.
Normally in those weather conditions the band wouldn't play. But as everyone
else was ready for the official opening of the Spanish City Plaza including Alan Campbell MP, Tourism
& Events Manager, Pete Warne, Malcolm Henderson and his team from North
Tyneside Council AND the folks of Whitley Bay, there was no way we weren't
going to play our part. My main concern was for bass guitar player, Bill
Colledge, whose instrument and amplifier were plugged into the mains - I was
really expecting him to go up in a 'blue flash' at any second - however, a few
plastic bin-liners courtesy of NTC saved him from getting 'fried'. Another
great event for the Vieux Carré Jazzmen - in spite of the weather.
