Bebop Spoken There

Charlie Musselwhite: "I used to see these posters in the windows of the [Chicago] blues clubs advertising Elmore James and Muddy Waters which knocked me out. I was making a note of the addresses and at night I'd go back and listen to the blues until 4-5 in the morning." - (Blues Matters! Aug/Sep 2021)

The Things They Say!

Hudson Music: Lance's "Bebop Spoken Here" is one of the heaviest and most influential jazz blogs in the UK.

Rupert Burley (Dynamic Agency): "BSH just goes from strength to strength".

'606' Club: "A toast to Lance Liddle of the terrific jazz blog 'Bebop Spoken Here'"

The Strictly Smokin' Big Band included Be Bop Spoken Here (sic) in their 5 Favourite Jazz Blogs.

CD Review: The New Mastersounds - Out On The Faultline

Eddie Roberts (gtr/tambourine, vcl); Simon Allen (dms/vcl); Pete Shand (bs/vcl); Joe Tatton (org/pno/clt/vcl) + Joe Cohen (ten); Papa Moli (spoken word); The Jazz Mafia Horns - Cohen (ten), Adam Theis (tmb), Mike Olmos (tpt).
A Leeds based funk band that spends most of its time touring The States, Japan and mainland Europe, the New Mastersounds achieve a hypnotic groove that make sitting still an almost impossible task when listening to the shit (good shit) they're putting down on this CD. I'm trying to imagine them live in a club like Hoochie - or any club - they'd blow up a storm! Solid B3 sounds, guitar riffs, bass below and potent rhythmic percussion coupled with '70s vocal harmonies tells you where they 're at.
Redwood Jungle is augmented by the Jazz Mafia Horns who add variety and power to the ensemble and Papa Moli gives a spokenesque lilt to Welcome to Nola - a catchy New Orleans narrative.
The New Mastersounds - Out On The Faultline is released on Monday November 5 by One Note Records.
Lance.
