The concert is being co-promoted with Jazz North’s New Northern scheme to support the development of new emerging jazz talent across the region.
Max Rosen is an exciting young pianist based in Manchester. Graduating with a first-class honours degree in Music from the University of Manchester, Max can be found across the North’s jazz scene, performing at venues such as Matt and Phred’s, Band On The Wall, Co-op Live and The Cavern Club. His festival credits include We Out Here Fest, London, Manchester and Cheltenham Jazz festivals and has performed with artists such as Nikki Yeoh, Mark Armstrong, Max Beasley and Rachel Burnett from The Voice UK.
Max has begun recording work with his own trio, recently releasing their first single entitled “Webb”. In 2024 Max also featured on the UK rapper Bugzy Malone’s album “The Great British Dream”.
Max rose up through the National Youth Jazz Orchestra academy and made his debut appearance at the London Jazz Festival 2023 at Milton Court Theatre. He toured the country with NYJO, headlining Ronnie Scott’s, Stoller Hall and Cheltenham Jazz Festival, and has recently returned from the Berlin Konzerthaus where he played piano with NYJO to nearly two-thousand people, as well as being broadcast live on German Radio.
Maria Sanderson is an 18 year-old jazz trumpet player and multi-instrumentalist based in Manchester. She grew up playing classical violin and trumpet at Chethams School of Music and has spent the last 2 years concentrating on gaining experience on the jazz scene.
Currently in her final year at college, Maria has already played at many of the leading jazz venues across the world including Bimhuis jazz club (Amsterdam), Zigzag jazz club (Berlin), Budapest Jazz club, Wally’s Jazz club (Boston), Club Gustav (Oslo) as well as numerous venues across the north of England.
Maria has recently been offered a full scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, as well as other London conservatoires.
She has performed with musicians such as Benny Benack III and Kate Kortum, and has studied with musicians such as Gerald Clayton, Kendrick Scott, Anat Cohen, Terri-Lyne-Carrington, Simon Moullier, Alex Ridout and Philip Dizack.
