This week’s Stockport Jazz gig at the Moor Club features the return of trumpeter Neil Yates, this time with his BYRO quartet.
BYRO (Bashford, Yates, Remon, Owston) is a quartet of acclaimed UK jazz musicians from different generations, playing a repertoire consisting of jazz standards and originals.
Originally from Stockport and now based in North Wales, Neil Yates has a national reputation in the worlds of both jazz and folk music. As a jazz trumpeter he has toured with NYJO, the BBC Big Band, Johnny Dankworth, Gary Crosby's Nu Troop, Benn Clatworthy, and Patrick Cornelius. As a session player he has toured and recorded with a wide range of artists including Robbie Williams, Us3, Brand New Heavies, Supergrass, Lighthouse Family and Alison Moyet.
BYRO features Neil on trumpet, Tom Remon on guitar, James Owston on bass and Jim Bashford on drums. Expect an evening of unique musical interpretation and modern, fresh jazz.
