This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Rossano Sportiello (livestreaming at 22:00 BST)

Live at the Flat # 131 continues Greenwich Village-resident pianist Rossano Sportiello's hugely popular livestream series. As lockdown days become a fading memory, thankfully some livestreams live on. Emmet Cohen's (now occasional) Monday evening stream opened a window on the NYC jazz scene (recent BBC Promenader Samara Joy a one-time guest), as did Sportiello's efforts. When he isn't away touring, Sportiello, elegance personified, continues to reach a worldwide audience via Facebook and/or YouTube. 

This evening (Tuesday 29) Sportiello will be joined by guitarist Pasquale Grasso, bassist Neal Miner, and drummer Keith Balla for episode # 131 - Be-Bop at the Flat! Logon at ten o'clock, open a(nother) bottle and marvel at four supremely talented musicians at work. Russell
