This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. If I had a talking picture ---

This coming week's schedule of vintage screen gems on that nostalgic channel Talking Pictures includes the following:
Tuesday July 8 @ 13.05: Band of Thieves, the band in question being Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazzmen.

Thursday July 10 @ 06.00: Four Hits and a Miss isn't the American vocal group of that name but good old Acker back again for 15 minutes of trad.

Saturday July 12 @ 21.05: The Wheeltappers and Shunter's Club - Episode 33 has the Alex Welsh Band playing Sweet Georgia Brown.

Sunday July 13 @ 21.05: Mickey One. Crime film with music arranged by Eddie Sauter and played by Stan Getz and a whole gang of uncredited A-Listers. I have the album so it will be good to hear it in situ. Lance
