This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. New single from Knats

Local north east heroes Knats continue to storm the bastions of our capital city with a new album to be released in February on the iconic Gearbox label.

In the meantime, They've gifted a single to fans past, present and future which can be downloaded/streamed via your favourite platform (click on graphic below).
The original trio of Stan Woodward (bass guitar); King David Ike-Elechi (drums) and Ferg Kilsby (trumpet) are augmented by Cam Ross (tenor sax) and Sandro Shar (keys). Plus, on the album, various other topnotchers are included on individual tracks. It promises to be a one to look out for and it will, of course, be reviewed on BSH when available.

Anyone who listened to 'Round Midnight last Thursday (9th) would have heard them 'featured' playing 'For Me Mam' at 5 mins in, then another Newcastle-based band Rivkala followed by an enthusiastic back-announcement for Knats. If you didn't hear it, it's here (for 3 more weeks) at 5 mins in https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0026kk9
