This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Press release: Nauta @ the Globe - Nov. 4

Jacob Egglestone (guitar); Bailey Rudd (drums); Olly Styles (tenor sax); Jamie Watkins (bass guitar); Louis Wild (keys).

Nauta met at Newcastle University and established themselves as a trio. Jacob Egglestone on guitar; Jamie Watkins on bass guitar; Bailey Rudd playing drums. The group quickly found themselves playing across the North East – including Hexham Jazz Festival, The Black Swan and Cobalt Studios. 

As their reputation built up in the jazz scene, they added two new members to free themselves up harmonically. Louis Wild plays keys; Olly Styles plays saxophone. As a full band, they are starting to play extensively across Newcastle, including being chosen to represent the city by Lumo travel in their Edinburgh Fringe showcase. Over Summer 2023, they have written their own material as they look to build on past credit and take the city by storm. Don’t miss it. Supported by Libby Goodridge, and Remy CB.
