Side Gallery: The Classic Street Style of Weegee, Doisneau & Forsyth

Side Gallery's current exhibition features New York photographer Weegee, Paris snapper Robert Doisneau and Newcastle's legendary documentary photographer Jimmy Forsyth. The work of all three is well worth seeing but for the jazz fan it's Weegee who'll catch the eye. Active through the Great Depression and WWII, Weegee's images capture life on the streets of the Big Apple. Look out for shots of Velma Middleton, Frank Sinatra and other famous faces. 

Newcastle's Side Gallery at 5-9 Side, a short walk from Guildhall on the Quayside, is open Thursday and Friday (11:00-5:00) and Saturday and Sunday (noon-5:00pm). Russell
