All the Cats Join in

Whilst thinking about jazz cats it occured to me that it had been a long time since I'd played one of my most treasured pieces of vinyl - All the Cats Join in. This Buck Clayton Jam Session is regarded by many as an example of mainstream jazz at its best although the others in the series run it close.

Twenty five cats blowing as if the world was facing a shortage of Dreamies! Clayton and Braff, Hawkins, Higgy, Urbie, Tyree Glenn, Jo Jones, Sir Charles, Walter Page, Julian Dash ...

This wasn't a JATP slugfest but a session that featured brain over brawn. Treasure this and the companion volumes. We may never hear the like again - jazz has, they tell me, moved on. Lance.
