The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. The Abbie Finn Trio to play Hexham Jazz Club!

During the next few weeks and months Abbie Finn will be gigging across the region and beyond (one or two prestigious festival dates are in the book!). Drummer Abbie's trio played an excellent gig at Newcastle Jazz Co-op (The Globe) earlier in the week and, later this month (Tuesday 18 February), Abbie, Harry Keeble (tenor sax) and bassist Paul Grainger will be guests of Hexham Jazz Club at the Fox Inn, Hexham. 

Standards from across the decades are likely to include numbers such as Juan Tizol's Caravan, John Coltrane's Giant Steps and more. Hexham Jazz Club's regulars are in for a treat and if each of them brings along a jazz-loving friend the Fox on West End Terrace will be a standing-room-only affair.    

The Fox Inn gig starts at 8:30pm, it's free admission, there will be a collection on the night with a suggested donation of a fiver. Tyne Valley jazz fans - put the date in the diary Tuesday 18 February. Support your local jazz club!
