Ray Harley has informed me that Gavin Belton, banjoist with the Tees Valley Jazzmen passed away yesterday in hospital aged 71. Along with his brother Keith, Gavin was a founder member of the band which has been going for circa 50 years mainly, as the name implies, in and around Teesside.

Sad to read the news about Gavin Belton’s passing, I played for the Tees Valley Jazzmen for a few years, and had some interesting and amusing experiences with Gavin & his brother Keith & TVJ.
