This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Global Goings-on

We are getting excited about a unique event coming to the Globe on the public holiday Monday 29 August. A fusion of Tango and Jazz, with dancing, listening, tea and tequila. Before that, we welcome another globetrotter back to the Globe - vocalist Claire Kelly plays a final gig before heading back to the far east.
On 26, 27, 28 August there is the first Ushaw Jazz Festival (near Durham). This excellent new event has been organised by local jazz genius Paul Edis, who was recently one of the tutors at our Summer Weekend Workshop. The festival features many of the musicians who have supported Jazz.Coop in various ways and so we have decided not to programme any jazz gigs at the Globe during the festival so there is no clash. (Our regular More Jam session, always held on the fourth Sunday of the month, 3-6pm, will go ahead as usual.) 
Claire Kelly & Pete Gilligan On Saturday 20 August 2016 there is classy jazz vocals and virtuoso piano at the Globe. Claire Kelly is a versatile singer from the North East of England. Currently performing around Thailand and Malaysia she has squeezed in a date for The Globe on her whistle-stop visit to the UK.… Read more.
