This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Pardon me boy, is this the Jazz 'n' Real Ale Train?

Yes! It's the first Jazz 'n' Real Ale Train of 2015 this Wednesday afternoon (10 June). 
20's Jazz by The Vieux Carré Hot 4 and Real Ale Bar courtesy of High House Farm Brewery. Music will commence immediately after departure from NEWCASTLE CENTRAL STATION - Real Ale bar opens on arrival at Hexham Station.
The jazz train is the 12.22pm NEWCASTLE to CARLISLE service calling at Metro Centre; Blaydon; Wylam; Prudhoe; Stocksfield; Riding Mill; Corbridge; Hexham; Haydon Bridge; Bardon Mill; Haltwhisle; Brampton; Wetheral; CARLISLE (departs 2.36pm). 
Return tickets Newcastle-Carlisle are £17.80. However, if you are travelling with a partner or friend, ask for 'DUO TICKETS (£26.70) the 2nd ticket is half-price which makes a considerable saving. 
The Vieux Carré Hot 4 are, Pete Wright, trumpetDerek Fleck, clarinet, Brian Bennett, banjo and Phil Rutherford, sousaphone. Rendezvous at Central Station ticket barriers at 12.00 noon - if you prefer, bring a small snack for the journey!
