This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Djangologie @ Ashington Jazz Club. March 6, 2013.

Our members gathered at the Elephant for the third visit of Djangologie knowing we were going to experience an excellent evening of superb Django music presented by this group of talented musicians. What more can be said of these very popular and outstanding exponents of gypsy jazz style that has not already been written into Bebop Spoken Here  on many other reviews  in the North East and beyond? 
There are many such groups across Europe and the U.K. and it has to be said that this combination must be up there with the best.  Tonight, leader Mick Shoulder introduced  us to a collection of new material composed by himself and delivered with some panache. Included in the two sets were some traditional favourites that enthusiasts would expect within this idiom and the new with the old were warmly applauded throughout the evening. It is obvious that the members of Djangologie not only enjoy performing this music but also have a firm commitment to this enduring period in the history of Jazz.  The end came much too soon but our demands for more were answered . I suggest that all of you out there in our Jazz World look out for future performances - you will not be disappointed.
