The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz Café Jam Session

Pete Gilligan (pno/dms); Alan Laws (pno); Ian Forbes (dms); Paul Grainger (bs); Stuart Findon (ten); Fiona Littlewood (ten/vcl); Doug Fielder (sop); Chris Finch (tpt); Lindsay Hannen (vcl); Gaby (vcl).
Usual suspects. Lindsay in fine voice on Tea For Two done slowly and languorously not at all like Anita O'Day - I'm pleased to say.
After Ian left for his Sunday roast pianist Pete Gilligan took his place at the drums and proved to be an able percussionist - given his piano pounding perhaps this isn't surprising!
Gaby Skylarked and Cried me a River Fiona sang You Don't Know What Love is as well as playing tenor on several other boppier anthems. Stu, Chris - on trumpet - and Doug were all featured. Chris blew good on River whilst Stu had some blistering solos.
Special mention of Alan who was in fine form on keys.
